Laura Hunter, LCSW, is a licensed therapist with over 25 years of experience. Laura provides leading edge, evidence based therapy to help individuals and couples build and strengthen relationships. She is passionate about couples and enjoys the dynamic and process. She is committed to providing effective tools to help you. Laura will accurately guide and develop a plan with you to get you feeling better - whether you are an individual or couple.

It's important to bring an effective tool kit to the table to help you. A therapist needs to understand the contributing factors and issues that come in the room with each individual/couple. These can include parenting issues, life transitions, divorce, depression, anxiety, alcohol/substance use/abuse, and other factors such as ADHD.

Laura is solution focused, practical, and she will compassionately and expertly guide you through these issues

Background & Career

Laura has previously worked in hospitals and psychiatric settings, and has practiced cognitive behavioral therapy, grief work, crisis intervention, relationship therapy, and extensive individual therapy. Laura has a broad skill set to treat anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, betrayal, and other issues both couples and individuals experience.

Her background is diverse and rich in a variety of competencies, with extensive training in the cognitive therapies, including certifications in DBT and ADHD, and extensive relationship work. She has completed three levels with the Gottman method and has been influenced by extensive work with emotionally focused therapy and imago therapy.

Early in her career, she worked extensively with acute health, crises, grief, mental health, crisis and disorder such as depression, suicidality, anxiety. She also did extensive work with chronic illness and oncology clients.
